ABS code's

im having problems with my ABS system. when i lightly break the warning light comes on. i've had he car diagnosed and code "C1155" for the L.H.F wheel sensor came up.
how can i find out what that code means and what would be the best thing to stop it.

You could have a number of things wrong with the sensor.

1) Sensor is dead
2) Sensor is filthy with metal filings over it (as it is magnetic) and needs a clean
3) broken loom to the sensor (has been known to happen).

First thing I'd do is have a look under there ... if it is anything like the B-series ... they are held in with an 8mm bolt ... slide out and easy to clean (do them all if you can).

If you cant see an issue with a broken loom ... and the light is still on after a clean ... try and get a 2nd hand sensor and replace it if you can yourself ... and see if that sorts it out.

Don't forget to reset your ECU after taking the very good advice from above.

It's probably just a dud sensor.

To reset ecu do I return it to stock and leave battery unplugged for a few hours?

...why didn't the diagnostic centre/guys give you the goss on the decode, as well as the probable cause?

Prob dud sensor as previously mentioned. Is easy to test, just disconnect both front sensors and measure resistance between the connector terminals of both sensors with a multimeter. If the reading for the LHS sensor is alot different to the RHS sensor you know it's a dud. According to the WSM they should read 1.45k - 1.85k ohm for a good sensor.

4ford has a point whast the use in a autoelec/mechenic to do a diagnostic on a car and then make u find out what it means? they should have a book about 700 pages long with all code numbers from all makes and models as well as what the code means, hence its thre job to diagnose and find and fix

i took the sensor in question out and gave it a clean. had a fair bit of metal shavings on it. i assume these assist to the ABS light coming on. hoping this stops it.

Did a search and came across this thread. Similar problem, abs light comes on.

Silly question, where is the ABS sensor that needs cleaning located and what does it look like?

I don't know why no one uses the DTC database we have:

DTC # C1155
Description: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Continuity Fault
Mechanical:
Sensor: Sensor fault
Electrical: The sensor circuit may be open circuit. Wiring fault.
Other: ECU Faulty

Russ you are a champion!!!! i now dont need to pay someone to tell me this!!!

XR8_007 its in behind the brake disc. you will see some 2 wires going to it.i think it comes out with an 8/10mmbolt

Each wheel has a sensor.

thanks mate, took one out today, rear drivers side and gave it a clean. no more lights came on, drove for about 50kays now come back on, will try and clean the other one. does the fronts have a sensor as well?

Fronts do have a sensor as well. I just swapped mine over and Ive had no issues touch wood.
$35 from a wrecker.
