Wink A real GT

Went along to Munchies tonight , pretty quite but got talking to a bloke standing next to a tidy Ford GT replica , anyway discovered the story behind it

. It was a real one and worth several mill ( it had the real tags on the bodywork all in gold edged shinyness) , very pleasant bloke who was there looking for a particular year and model of car re a purchase , yes I took a photo but being black paint I don't know if the phone did any good and will look in the morning , I must say when he left it was seriously tuff sounding and not at all quite , a good noise
Now if one of the blokes with a decent camera could post a shot please as apart from the shape which was quite swoosh and timeless in a classic way the sound was seriously good music as he wound it some heading north along Beaudesert Rd , certainly a head turner ..

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

The BMW twin turbo v8 is currently (in AU) only available in the X6M and X5m, why would he want to compare a purpose built racer to a SUV?

The GT40 whether replica or real is fantastic. I went to roaring forties down in dromana a few years back for a comprehensive factory tour. One of those would be nice in my garage for a weekender.

Was it green?

As far as I am aware there is only one GT in Australia and that is at Bowdens in Buderim.

135 large will get you a replica, the yank ones are in the 500 large range and I think there are two here, a black one that was on Top Gear Oz and a red and white one.
The pommy one at Bowdens (assuming they haven't sold it) is worth several million but still got driven on the road on the odd occasion. It certainly drew a few looks outside the Buderim newsagents on Sunday mornings...

It was a real GT40 , believe me I did question him about it and he took the trouble to prove it , only 2nd one I have seen , have driven a couple of replicas which is very uncomfortable as I am 4"to tall , there is another for sale down south and the asking is scary so I am told . anyway we look at it
