Default Holden Advertising

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI3atOJhDvw

This is part why Holden Sell more Commodores then Ford do Falcons.
ridiculously good ad. Makes me want to buy a thunder ute and i hate Commodores for the most part.

Ford advertising need to take notice big time and start aggressively advertising against the competition.

I find their radio ads stupid though...
"With big Capital letters instead of wimpy lowercase ones"...or something like that...
I thought almost all cars have capitals for badging?

You are NOT serious are you ? " Nanananana " Pity they aren't just airing these ads in BOGANVILLE . Or is their target market 5 year olds , don't know too may 5 year olds with 35K though .The only thing that could have made this ad more laughable would be if it had Chev badges on it .

I think it's effective.

Though I enjoy the irony in the "angry cow" bit. I was under the impression that the more relaxed a cow is, the better the leather is. Is this to say that they are admitting their leather is ****?

It's quite simple advertising really, talking about how angry and aggressive the ute is appeals to younger men who are insecure in their manhood, which is their target market with this car. Bogans love status symbols and shiny things.

i agree its a good catchy ad... pretty sure theres already a thread about it too.

first time i heard the ad i could have sworn it said 'inbreed cow' instead of angriest. had me quite puzzled until i heard it the next time.

Ford should release a Lightning ute, because thunder always come after lightning.

Quote from Cars, ha ha ha.

Lightning McQueen: In your dreams, Thunder.
Chick Hicks: Yeah, right. Thunder? What's he talkin' about, Thunder?
Lightning McQueen: Well, you know, because Thunder always comes after... Lightning!
[reporters crowd around McQueen]
Chick Hicks: [to his pitcrew] Who here knew about the Thunder thing?

Theres the "Football, Meat pies, Kangaroo's and Holden cars one" as well dating way back.

But this is a good one that would really sell the car well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=QpiljhVQSQA

I used to love old action TV ads for cars:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x02POBVHM7E

Don't see them like that anymore for some reason, all the car companies have gone wimpy, and seem to have grandfathers doing the driving in their ads these days.

one mustang banner and a couple of good mustang clips, some more humour type commercials like these in the mix down under would be good instead of the boring ones.

appeal to the lowest common denominator and you will never go hungry

the add sounds like a five year old wrote it "a big scary". and if ford used the angriest cows line, the "ban live export" people would have a field day. holden put out the adds they do, because they can. if ford or any other manufacturer put them out, they would be accused of promoting anti social behaviour

It's always on Foxtel. Still not as good as the VU SS "Thunder Struck" ad from about 2000-2001 though IMO.

One variant of the ad claimed that the Thunder Ute was so amazingly rebel ***, that it was made in the darkest part of the factory, at night, with all the lights off...

Sorry WHAT?!

I haven't heard it since, maybe Holden realised how it sounded and pulled it.

i thought all ve's must have been made in the dark with the lights off!! that would explain a few things to me at least.

regarding advertising, can anybody draw a concrete link between advertising and sales?? i know thats where everyone likes to put the credit, but its just assumptions at best.

how many ads do you see for corolla or mazda3 or hilux? these cars all sell extremely well.

It's important to remember there are many forms of advertising, look at The Block on Channel 9, Corolla is one of the major sponsors, there are promos for it every five minutes, always being mentioned, and all the contestants get one to use through the show. Toyota are the major sponsor of the AFL, etc etc.
