Default How much should i ask for?

Hi.
I have been asked by my elderly Auntie to sell her 2001 AU2 SR Falcon for her. She's downsized to a small Toyota.
The car:
2001 model SR one owner from new with all service history and receipts for everything.
Genuine 52,000 K's and the condition reflects this, remembering it is still a 12 yr old car.
Rear spoiler
AC
Front electric windows
Cruise controll
It is colour coded white
Will be sold with a RWC and rego
Rego until Sept 2013.
I will get some pics posted by the end of the week.
Is around the $7K mark a fair price? Ive seen plenty on other car sales sites asking around this for cars with 100K plus on the clock.

Agreed. If its a clean example you could ask abit over market value and may jag a buyer.. However if your after a quick sale price it at market value and it should sell quick.

depends on how fast you want to sell it. if your not in a mad rush start at 10 and you will probably find the right buyer at close to your starting price. but remember not everyone will see the value in such a low K immaculate car that's why it may take a bit of time to sell

nice AU by the way it should sell

$7500 is reasonable as it still a 12 year old car.

it would sell quickly at that price I think. as I said you will find someone willing to go higher regardless of age being such a good low K example

That's a beautiful AU.

I'd buy that in a flash for $5k.

As others have mentioned though if your Aunt is in no rush, you'll find the right buyer that will be pay around $7k.

i honestly don't think you'd get anywhere near 10k for it. An immaculate example yes, and probably should be worth that much.

But i can't see anyone spending close to that. Bang your 7.5k on it and see what happens, good luck with the sale

Were I in the market, I doubt I would pay $10,000 but at $8,000 I would jump at it for my Daughter and Grand kids.

its a nice AU but everyone here is pulling your chain a little........ i mean, i cant see any of them paying over 3-4k for it, even though they say they would

it took me a few months to sell my tidy AUII Fairmont Ghia, factory optioned sunroof, black Howe leather, GPS, MOMO wheel, 5L V8 etc etc. Had one serious person enquire about it, and i got 7.5k. I considered myself lucky.

Id pay >6k for it just from the pics.

I looked for ages for something like this as a second car but settled on a mint EL instead.

Healthy debate is a healthy part of any democracy! LOL!

It's a mint condition car, but still 12 years old. It's bog stock standard.

JC is closer to the mark, but hey, you can only advertise it and see how you go.

I was seriously thinking about this car myself yesterday. I was comparing it to my current SR. Then I thought of all the things I'd want to take out of my SR and transfer to this one.

That list:
Brake discs, Cluster (which would need the eprom changed), Door handles, Stereo, Springs and struts, Manual gearbox, Diff centre, Boot lid carpet and LPG system.

If I could get such a car at JC's price point, then it may be worth doing all the changes.

I'd venture that many would say "why bother?" Others would say "Cool project!"

Cheers!

My turn being in the industry and knowing what is around helps a bit . you see S11s around for 5 to 9 k in yards, yours being a low K very clean unit you would expect a premium for it,so 7+ sounds fair but reality is unless there is a AU Nutter out there like most of us here you may struggle at that price ,more so if you need a quick sale , Most likely 3 to 5 k will kill it
Todays best buy around the traps was a mk11 dedicated gasser. FG 84Ks for 10 1/2 K which for Joe average would be good buying for a car just 4 years old thats what you will be up against.. hopefully you will find that AU nutter that just has to have it

I agree with Woosha, but i would start at $6500 & dont go any lower than $6000 depending on how fast you want the cash. I just had a look at Carpoint & there were a few private really low kay SR's going for between $8500 - $10,000, but i expect them to be waiting a while for a sale. At that price point the buyer has a hell of a lot of buying options for their dollars. I'd be undercutting the competition but not giving it away. Good luck with the sale, hope you get the dollars your looking for!

$7000 is a good price. I wouldn't go any lower then $6000 either. that's not much kilometres for an AU.

so thats how much your willing to pay?......... or is that what he should sell it for?

selling a car can be a massive amount of stuffing around

trying to ask what an enthusiast 'might' pay is only gonna drag it out longer. Its hard enough trying to sell a falcon to anyone these days, let alone the ugly duckling of the family

Yes put it out for $7500. See what happens.
Worst case scenario you just keep on dropping the price until it is sold.
If you're in charge of selling it, is there a price you have been told to not sell it under?

Great car , looks like new all around, garaged all it's life I'll bet, I guess I'm au nutter, most reliable ford ever built in newish condition, ideal car for a parent to buy a new young licence holder, or a limo that will just go forever, should go easily for 7.5 , I could see someone parting with more if you where to wait.

That's a very nice example, one of the better ones out there. I should know, I was in the market for an AU pov pack up until 2 weeks ago. Where were you then???!!!

I paid $4k for an AUIII if that's any indication, and it was for sale for a long time. But yours has lower k's and is practically brand new.

I say $5.5K. Someone I know just paid $4k for a 50,000km EL poverty pack.

Good luck! Stay in the market, most AU's out there are complete sh!tboxes. Whoever buys this will be after an AU specifically. There are loads of BA/BF's and even FG's out there for under $10k.
