Default AU V8 Alternator voltage output

Hi all

What should the voltage output be at idle?
Currently with all acc off and engine running I can measure a voltage across
The battery of 13.5 V.

Is this a little low?
I thought it should be around 14.4 volts?

This may explain rough idle?

Vehicle is a 220kw series 2.

Cheers

220kW XR8 has underdriven accessories from the factory and alternator output suffers as a result. I think mine is about 13.5V as well.

They will be regulated to 14.4v or so, voltage is rpm dependent. but can show lower. Open the throttle by hand to 1500rpm or so and check again.

As long as your above 13v your making progress :P

Thanks all.

With all acc and high beam on excluding aircon as this increased the idle speed slightly the voltage is 13.4.
So this then seems fine.
My AU Xr6 has 14.4 but as suggested under drive system on V8.

I think the problem I was concerned about was when I removed the battery.
The ecu was then reset and had bad idle.Assumed bad voltage supply to vehicle.

Overtime the idle speed controller collects "gunk" but ecu compensates for this.
When ecu reset original parameters idle solenoid could not keep engine idle.

I removed and cleaned idle solenoid .Replaced and performed another ecu reset.
All good.
Slowly it will relearn and compensate variations over time.

Cheers
