Default Falcon Service Costs.... City and Regional Comparison

I know this topic gets mentioned quite a bit on the forums, but I thought
I would highlight the fact that, from what I read here on the forums, some of
the city service centres and franchise dealers seem to be charging way, way
too much for car services.

I live in regional NSW and my mechanic is an experienced, independent
sole operator. I just recently had the following work done on my BA Falcon:

- General service including....
- New engine oil and oil filter (Penrite oil and filter supplied by mechanic)
- Re-grease front swaybar bushes
- Replace 2 x idler pulley bearings (idler pulley and engine pulley)
- General "look-over" car safety inspection
- Test drive
- Log book stamp

Price: $189 total (parts and labour)

I guess the tip here is to get a few quotes next time you are getting your
car serviced. A big flashy, franchise dealership may not represent the best
value for money!

general look over is always a tricky one, and depends entirely on the individual doing the job whether in an independant shop or dealer, it may consist of a glance making sure nothing is falling off......... 2 minutes , or a very thorough serious look that can take quite a bit of time, that does sound a good price for job done EB92.
