The PC's interim report on the future of (what's left of) the car industry is out today.
The fact that it's being released at 4pm (in order to avoid scrutiny) indicates it won't be good. |

Its hard to imagine it reporting anything other than it's too bloody expensive to manufacture stuff here........... we should have another commision to see if the previous two commisions where helpful to the car industry.

The 4pm thing could be to coincide with a Parliamentary sitting or if Parliament is not sitting, the availability of the Clerk of the House as it will need to be tabled.
But yeah it's probably not going to be a pretty report..

Not much in there that we didn't already know. The best thing Australia can do now is to make it mandatory for all new cars being sold in Australia to be a minimum of 5 star ANCAP rating or equivelant and any imported used vehicle that has a manufacture date after 2015 must also be compliant to the standard. Any imported vehicle with a lower rating has a "safety and health" tax of 40% added which could go straight into the health or training budget.
