As the title says. I'm sure many have already seen the video of a 5 year old performing a burnout in a driveway on private property in Queensland. Now the car has been seized and child protection agency is involved.
IMO this has blown out and making a mountain of a mole hill. There would be so many parents in the ***** from decades ago for allowing kids going nuts in the old paddock bomb, which I did when I was around 8 years old. Nanny state at it again... http://www.9news.com.au/national/201...-as-dad-cheers |

IMO, not in this example. You don't allow a 5YO to be in charge of a machine. It's one thing to have them sit on your lap and steer the car around the yard. We've all done that. It's another to stand outside and let them rip a burnout.
Some people are retarded.....

If the kid has had heaps of practice on his dad's lap then the margin of error is reduced. Also he might be a savant, the dad did say he's not an ordinary five year old so I don't see a problem with it. I reckon he's a lil champion.

This could end up really bad for the parents.

I think there might be a little bit of video trickery going on.
I was driving by 7 on the farm in the FC but I was sitting on 3 plough discs and a couple of fertilizer bags to see over the dash. I think that kid would struggle to reach both pedals with both feet. Dad's car is a dedicated burnout car? So may have a linelocker?? We weren't there so don't really know the details. Stupid idiot using facebook though.

The old mans a goose for putting it on idiotbook.
When it popped up on my page the other night me and the missus both said within 3 days it will be all over the news. We were wrong. It was 24 hours. Theres more to it then the media is showing. If you see the original video the kid is actually bouncing the throttle and has very good throttle control to keep it going. It was done too well to be done by a 5 year old. Why did the car get impounded? It was done on private property. How is this any worse then kids of that age getting around on minibikes , driving junior dragsters etc? None of us know what safety precautions were in place if any. For all we know the car could of been chained down and going nowhere. But as per usual it will be a trial by media and social media with the sheepole being the jury......................................... |

To me , its not the act. BUT that you cant even be safe running a muck on your own private property. Seized his car for what. Take that to court. At the time nothing illegal. So car illegally confiscated.

I read on one post that it was strapped down and line locker engaged, if that's the case then I don't see the issue.
However in the footage I don't see any straps. As for the people on here calling other members names simply because they have a different opinion, well that's says far more about you than the person you're trying to vilify. Dads calm about it, he's the best one to know his kids ability. Everyone else should just butt out. And child protection? You have to be kidding me! They stick their noses in here but where were they when poor little tialiagh (sp) was getting abused by a family full of predators for nearly a year? Great priorities. |

Really it is no ones buisness but the family involved. Hence the reason it should not have been posted on the Internet.

Long legs for a 5 year old.
I would have preferred to watch him do a skid. No sideways movement what so ever? |

A 5 yr old riding a horse in a paddock would be in more danger.

even a 5yo in a skate park with a skateboard with out his helmet being egged on by teenagers can be more dangerous to him self
lets all sit nice and safe at our computers and scream how dangerous it could have been gez ive known young kids like that operating some farm machinery that treated wrongly can be hazardous or using firearms and yet some adults with out training are more dangerous than some kids right or wrong its not our problem , I bet theres some one out there that thinks something that you guys or even I have done is stupid along the way

Typical that the PC crowd jumps on this when it has literally nothing to do with them. It isn't their property or their child but they just have to get involved!
Personally I don't care either way - the Earth is overpopulated. If people want to take such a hands-on approach to population control, that is just fine with me. Most of all I simply have to question the thought process this father had going on when he decided to upload to facebook... how could you possibly think it would end well? |

Makes you wonder how some people go through life.
There is a certain level of stupidity the general population is able to achieve, but this bloke excels at being dumb.
