Hilux out in front with 4,803 sales, that’s an excellent response to buyer demand.

Triton aggressive selling got them into second with 3,811 sales beating out Ranger

Ranger in third with a modest 3,455 sales because New Ranger will be with us soon

Ranger and Everest have supply issues in Feb. Wiring looms and chips.

With the all new Ranger coming mid year, surprised they are still selling as well as they are. Went past a couple of Ford dealers yesterday and they had bugger all stock at all so the next couple of months could be a bit lean.

Typhoon in the phillipines caused a lot of damage at the supplier. Not sure how much production they lost, but it will need to be made back up.

I think the first half of the year might be tight supply wise, until it opens up in the second half.

Ironic how Victorian and SA car plants never lost time due to natural disasters.

Japan, Thailand, Philippines have all lost production of vehicles and components due to natural disasters at some point.

Now imagine if Australia had a chip manufacturer to match our Thins and Crinkle cuts...

ESSO gas explosion in the late 90's was one I remember. Shut the plants down for a week or so.

I suppose you can't call that a natural disaster though.

its not like pre covid that consumers will sit and wait for replemishing stocks sooner. We all see wait lists are 12mths and more.
Today, consumers due to the long lead times and all will buy what they can get their hands on be it a run out model or not the way I'm seeing things.
Not much choice.

Puma deserves way more than that, Escape too.

Mustang seems ok all things considered.

Depends on if you had cold showers if your hot water unit was gas or electric...

Yep, collecting a van from service dept and when I asked if they could value it for a new Transit Custom the salesman apologised and said they had no idea when a new one would be built and no real point in determining the trade-in until a supply date was set.

They had 3 Raptors awaiting hand-over and one Transit Custom which no-one could remember when it was ordered off the top of their head and another Custom Sport in the holding yard. In fact they are lucky if they can deliver a couple Customs a month. And looking at 100 sales Aust-wide in total for Feb you can see why.

Getting supply out of europe is like getting blood out of a stone. FoE have been the hardest hit in terms of semi-conductor shortages.

It would be interesting to see how many they could actually sell if they had supply. Probably won’t know until later in the year when supply catches up.

I have a feeling that supply is going to remain tight for the rest of this year…
Pity Ford couldn’t get those loss making Chinese plants to build some RHD vehicles for Australia…

Put it this way, I cancelled our Escape order while the car freighter was sailing between Freemantle and Melb and the dealer gave me back my deposit within an hour of official cancellation...and it was sold the next day.

Last year only 1673 got sold Australia and there's no dealer demos, that's not even 10 Escapes per dealer for the whole year....and it's worse so far this year.
Ford 2021 Sales:
Ford EcoSport 1
Ford Endura 23
Ford Escape 1,673
Ford Everest 8,359
Ford Fiesta 342
Ford Focus 735
Ford Mondeo 4
Ford Mustang 2,827
Ford Puma 3,218

Ford Ranger 4X4 45,986

Seems indicative across all brands on wait times, one of our family has had a RAV Hybrid on order for just under a year, two price rises on,& still no ETA,he is pulling out of the contract(he can do that btw.)Just a ridiculous state of affairs.

Toyota sold over 20,000 vehicles her last month but still struggles to meet demand…..
What would their figures be like if they could….

Basically a non-issue here. In my 20 + years with the company there was only ever one, 1/2 day strike back in the late 90's.

It's not like it was in the 70's.

They have a lot of the cars sitting over there waiting for parts on the grass. I believe the numbers in the thousands.

It also means we miss out on a heap of Wildtrak X's as the people assigned to those fit outs are now in the field retrofitting Everest's / Ranger's with parts they were missing off the line.

Wait times for cars will compound even further with so many cars lost during the floods in Qld and NSW, they all have to be replaced with non existent stock.
