What’s wrong with Electric Life?
https://www.electric-life.com/produc...tors-attached/ https://www.electric-life.com/produc...tors-attached/ …You should have bought a project Mustang instead of a Falcon. All the items you’ve been looking for are on a well-trodden path. |

I wouldnt do it.....i pulled them all out of my Mustang and went back to Standard Crank Windows, call me old fashioned but i just found them not to be right in a car of that age.
That and who ever installed them could easily have passed as a butcher. Ended up Junking the lot, they gave Grief when the switches started playing up and the Motors weakened. Mine were Electric Life, but i got rid of them around 10 years ago, and they were in the car when i got it.

Were the switches bearing full load of the motor current?

No There were relays in the Kit if i recall correctly.
The main issue was the switches were installed into the Doors and there was no water shield, so they just corroded internally and fell apart. I couldnt get new parts so i ended up junking it all. I dont mind the manual windows so i went back to them for simplicity. That and the Mustang uses an "X" type Scissor which is known to wear through the plastic guide wheels like anything. The XM might use a similar type of X Scissor, so an Early mustang unit may work.

That sounds disappointing. I asked about the relays because it’s common for both car manufacturers and aftermarket kit suppliers to group all the relays in one place - reality sees this as a substandard result.

you are right there. But my car is a Convertible, so i dont really need to worry too much about windows. They are mostly all wound down when the car is being driven.
When i did the restoration on it i replaced everything window related, so that gave me the opportunity to back to Stock stuff and junk the Electric. Plus the cables were just shoddily put under the carpet, i suspect this is because early cars like these dont have the full width rocker channels and holes through the body.
