Black is high maintenance to keep looking good. I would personally go for the silver (Lightening Strike I presume, not Mercury Silver?). If it is going to blow your budget buying the silver then just wait a while. Every day you hold off buying they are coming down in price, good for buyers but bad for sellers.

If you can get 18 inch alloys alone or with tyres for the silver ute for under $3,000, I'd take the silver one

Black ain't that bad. Most blacks brand new aren't anywhere near as black as they can be if detailed properly

I gather this will be a daily driver or near that, so I'd go with silver.
Keep a black car as a weekender

Silver is very classy, and if it is Lightning Strike then you should go for it, only if you think it is a reasonable cost and that you can comfortably meet the repayments.

What is the insurance like for them both?

Get the black one. Its got more goodies on it and its cheaper. The cheaper price means more money for even more goodies!

I would go the black one personally, it is high maintenace however when it is clean it is the best colour by far, plus you get the hard cover, 18's and your paying 3,000 less for it

the silver one is an xr6 too yes??

The black one has a lot more good stuff on it ... but as you said you're not keen on black so if you're not keen on it now - you'll always wish you got a silver one.

Look around for another one that IS right for you.

I dont think i would ever decide on a car based on colour unless it was really wrong like pink lol. I think if thats the choice there is then save up a bit more. Then when you have the money you can have more of a choice.

Get the black one. Within a month you will discover that it is by far the best colour for looks and style. You will learn to live with the high maintenance as soon as you wash and polish it once and discover that it looks increadable once clean.

Once black you never go back :P

The Black one is better value. All things being equal I would go for Black if I were buying again. If the Silver one you're looking at is Mercury Silver then the decision is not cut and dried, if it's Lightning Strike then jump at the Black.

Cool

I am fortunate to have both a black and a white falcon and obviously the white one is harder to keep clean, but i love washing them, even if it is three times a week, hey you are also protecting the paint work, from what i am told, anyway.
Its your choice anyway, you like the silver, go the silver. :

Go black,

I wanted silver and ended up with black. Yes it's high maintenance but you get used to it. After you work out what to clean the car with, it's very easy to keep it that way.

You can't get reflections like this with silver

What was Henry Fords saying on colours on the T model Ford. You can have any colour as long as it was black.

Black looks intimidating but is a bytch to keep clean.

Standard silver is practical but is a bit "me too".

Mercury Silver looks menacing and is easy to keep clean as well. It's perfect.
