I know you have to disable the computer with a clip lead from the connector next to the fuse box. I am stumped, I'm shorting out the top left pin to ground. Nothing's happening, I've tried all the rest, where is the diagnostic input pin for setting the timing?

You have got the correct pin, short the top left hand pin to earth or to the bottom left pin, start the engine and in a few seconds the engine should rev up to and remain at 1500-2000rpm (can't remember exactly) for a while, thats when you set the timing.

Would pay to check this... your comments grant... but the mustang guys disconnect the TFI loom and apparantley this locks the engine in at 10 degrees BTDC...
i.e. the software base timing is 30* BTDC but mechanical timing is 10 * BTDC....
