Unhappy Yet Another Problem !

Well here we go yet another thing that the car has been plagued with.I went to go to work today and the bastard would not reverse i had to push her out the driveway not cool ! anywho off i went to work i thought it might be just too cold for the car and needs to warm up nope i was wrong so i parked her on the side of the road .

so this is the list of problems i have

1. i put it in R and it does nothing foot on accelerater and it just revs not happy.

2. it starts fine when its cold but when its at normal operating temp like if i duck in to the shops or something i go to start it again and it just cranks then after a while of cranking it fires for like half a second then just dies and a big puff of blue smoke comes out the exhaust and it then reaks of fuel

3. when i pull up at normal operating temp and put it in park it revs at about 1200 rpm and then goes up and down up to about 1200 then down to about 900 and keeps doing this repeatedly til i turn the key off

with all this it makes me wonder why i bother sometimes !!!!!!!!

anyone else got ideas on these problems or have been in the same boat at some stage and worked out what it was the reversing one is the worst and need to be fixed straight away as i cant be without the car !

Is it the 3 speed auto? I seem to remember that loosing reverse in them is the first sign of transmission failure, and you've got a few days or weeks before none of the gears work... :( Speed up the manual conversion?

Another pointless post... out: Did he ask if he wanted a EL?

with no 3, did you set the base idle? (put car in diag mode, set the idle to what is specified in on the emissions sticker, turn car off take out of diag mode) I had this issue where it was varying about 100rpm. Turned out the ECU didnt know where the base idle was

your injectors might be flogged. I had this issue with a set I was using. Replaced and it stopped doing it..

i had an ea 2 with 4speed in it that had no reverse and was loosing 1st,

i still reckons 3speeders are more reliable than the 4's

FUll Gladz Man dat Use are matez ;) Sometimes it can come across worse on the net mate.

Tuff EA, Might have to see if you can get it to a Trans specialist, as it sounds like its on the way out. If you can get a diagnosis, then you can work out what you want to do.
