Smile AU 11 Fairlane suspension

I have a 2001 75th Anniversary Fairlaine. The car needs new struts and rear shock absorber mounts. As this car was a "special" I don't know whether the struts were standard Ford units or upgraded i.e. XR6. The car always had a different ride to the standard Fairlane but I was never sure whether it was due to the struts or the 17 inch low profile tyres. The original struts were painted green. Any assistance with this would be appreciated.

As an aside the 75th Anniversary Fairlane appears to be a bit of a "parts bin" car, as it has LTD leather memory seats, Momo steering wheel and Momo Gearstick, Premium sound and 17 X 8 wheels.

Hi Disco,

I have one, too. It was standard suspension. I believe the Sportsman got the different suspension. Maybe it was second hand and changed by a previous owner. There was a huge difference when I got a JMM suspension kit done on it (shocks, springs and camber / caster kit). Maybe the wheel / tyre combo makes it a little different.

Do you think you could add your 75th to our Fairlane / LTD show thread?

On the IRS check the upper control arms. If it has a lowered suspension it would have a camber bolt it them like the XR series. If its just a bolt & nut its standed premium suspension.
I've got the C drive yoko 235/45-17 tyres. They are expensive but out of Falken & dunlops that I've had on before these tyres really grip. With lowered suspension. The compound is pretty soft so not sure what milage I might get out of them
