Hey Guys/Gals, i'm new here I would like some Answers on some questions i have, any would be appreciated. I have a 89 EA Ghia and it won't do a standstill!? On petrol or LPG, wet or dry roads. I have a LSD diff, pacemaker extractors,2 1/2 inchhigh flow cat and BMC air filter. But will be getting 2 1/2 inch exhaust. Is there something wrong with my car or does it just not have enough power. Thx

Not enough power! simple!
the only subsitute 4 2 much power is more power seriously though try a line locker and if that dont work a lower diff ratio probably wont hurt |

private wet roads usually fixes this problem, manual fixes alot of power issues.

that'll root the box nomatter what it is lol Just stamp your right foot with the brake on too, try a few times till you get it right. ps could put heaps of air in the back tyres, thatll make a smaller footprint and will lose grip easier

A stocko six cyl falcon will spin tyres.
Get some old tyres where the rubber has gone hard with age. I had some for a while I got given while funds were short. If the road was mildly damp there was no traction and you had to back off to stop them spinning. On the down side you also had no grip when braking meaning no brakes. They were dangerous and I didn't keep them long.

Same problem with my old mans old LTD, a 500,000klms tired, gas and I assume they got LSD so that would make it harder (but better if it were to go) I only managed once to get it going but thats it. Use some oil of your desperate, get skinny baldy tires it should manage. if not find a big area of road and turn the wheel full lock and gun it and it should start doin hellies.

Blow the wet road, oil and neutral dumps out your ear... There is a cetain techinique to doing a good line lock.. Try feathering the brake and accelerator, try loading up a wheel with some steering transfering the weight, play with tyre pressures and IF you are really desperate to show your mates a FULLY SICK skid clamp the rear calipers.
If you can't do a standstill with your setup though it is telling you something :- maybe you can't afford the consequences or shouldn't try them in a tired hack

I can do Rolling Skids, where Im driveing in a car park past the comodore crew when I stand on the loud pedel and brake at the same time and it fries my tyres, having a LSD makes both tyres smoke and i can get the auto to change into 2nd and then I have some heat and some dropped jaws from the commodore club :

lol ^ some of the best skids i've ever seen have been perofrmed by EA's. I think you're biggest setback Bomb EA, would be your diff. An 89 EA Ghia would have a 2.77 LSD which is a very tall ratio. Change the diff or go for a 5 speed, my EA with 2.77 single spinner and 5 speed ripped pretty good skids. :P

Why ruin 17inch tires? get 14 or 15 inch stockies for the job, easier to get spinning as well, gotta say a nice smokie, did u choke in that shed lol?

If it can't do it instantly, with no help/"additives" turn the car off and don't try.

If you want to rip a nice burnout....fully lock the steering wheel to one side...and flat stick the accelerator...put the auto tranny in 1st gear..u might see some smoke after a while....but maybe form the under the bonnet lol....get a few of ur mates to jack up the back of the car while u try to rip a burnout...or just go paddock bashing if all else fails...
