Default Guard Rolling

I've gotta ask the question...

What does guard rolling involve? Will all the wheel arch plastics fit afterwards? What exactly IS it?

I know its done to fit wider/taller tyres into the guards... :

Feel the inside of the guard lip. It's a _\ shape right? Rolling it makes it more of a \\ shape to give a little more clearance. You can't even tell from the outside.

As for wheel arch plastics, if the screw into the horizonal bit of the lip than no. They look crap anyway grandpa :P

I was of the impresion that rolling your guards can also stretch the pain and cause cracking over time. When you roll the inside you are flattening the metal and in turn, changing the shape. When changing shape you're bending the structure of the paint so to speak, if the paint is old, it doesn't have much elasticity(spelling) and thus changing the structure can cause micro cracking, which gradually progresses to larger cracks in the paint and enamel..

If you roll them yourself you'll most likey crack the paint on the outside. Cracking the paint on the inside would be pretty common I'd imagine.

I rolled the guards on my EB myself with a hammer. Somehow didn't crack the paint, but they still rubbed.

And the NC is a grandpa mobile from factory, so I can do whatever grandpa mods I feel like!

If you get a peice of pipe, load up your car with mates put the pipe between the tire and guard and get someone to drive forward and backwards a couple of times.

255's on 8.5 inch rims on my eb don't rub. the same wheels on an ef rub the plastic peice inside the guard.

I know of someone who does guard rolling and flaring. I still don't know what effect you'd get with "flaring" though. $50 for rolling, $65 for flaring (per corner obviously).

Use a heat gun (hair dryer) to soften the paint along the lip then with a rolling pin or baseball bat (something that shape) just roll the wheel slowly

Its not that hard, I have seen the eww-beaut rolling tool make a mess of it....
