Last few days have been dedicated to cleaning up the engine, which included painting her and replacing all the seals that i could. Now i've ripped the timing case off and decided to change the timing guides as they were broken and worn.
I tried not to move any of the gears but the auxilary gear has slightly moved and now i need to know if i aligned the gears back up properly. Now the engine is at TDC, inlet valve #2 and exhaust valve #3 are open, mark on the cam gear is parallel to the head on inlet side of the engine and the crank gear and auxilary gear marks are aligned to each other. Is this correct?? Need to know asap... Thanx in advance

the cam gear mark is actually meant to be 3 degrees or 3mm above the level of the head, but i'd imagine with various changes to the engine (head skim, headgasket) the mark could be a tad off either way.
and yes the marks on the aux shaft and crank should be pointed at each other.

well not really,,that is the allowable,it is meant to be as level as possible with the top of the head but can be up to 3mm above,so lond as it's sitting any where in between level and 3mm above it's ok.

actually factory specification is the 3mm above, all the allignment information i used is from the factory workshop manual.

Either way, if i were to move the cam gear another tooth, it will be about 6mm above the line, so i'm guessing i got it pretty much spot on. Thanx guys, some progress pics should be coming very shortly
