i need to replace my fluid since its boiled a couple of times and is quite dark now. i got my moneys worth out of it but i really do give the braking system a flogging almost daily.
ive got some new EBC greenstuff pads to replace the worn out advance's and i need new fluid to compliment these pads. what i need to know is, does the falcon manual [xr6] specify a mineral fluid to be used? if not i think i can go with some 5.1 stuff like castrol SRF or motul 5.1, or am i wrong? i remember hearing somewhere you cant use dot5.1 in eseries falcons. |

I think you have to replace ALL the rubber components ie seals, cups & O rings to use that type of brake fluid (Silicon??) because it reacts with the usual type and the rubbers swell up.(Not 100% sure but phone a brake speciaist)

The XR6 uses the same fluid as the rest of the Falcon range.
Honestly dont waste your money on 5.1, unless you intend on doing track days, even the a good quality DOT 4 will be more than adaquate with your stock brakes. Greenstuff are an awsome pad. Ohh and your fluid should be replaced at least every two years. I do mine every 12 months. :P

ok its like this, my braking system is far from stock. ive got dba slotted rotors up front and solids round the back. bendix advance all round. i killed the front rotors once already and replaced with another set of slotted, but now the advance are done up front. and there are times, on a weekly basis, that i drive 'track day' hard. i really need as good as i can get since pointing at a hairpin at 80km with little room to pull up can happen.

If your still running the standard calipers your braking system is pretty stock. Maybe look at upgrading to larger calipers ? There are a few guys with eseries that have upgraded. It aint cheap though. The standard Eseries brakes are crap. Im also running slotted rotors and they dont make much difference over standard. If i was you, and punished your brakes as much as you say. Id look at getting a decent setup.
