I think they did colour code the B pillar in series 2, you might be right there.

i can see your color coded b pillar vanessa. if that was the difference, i guess im series 1 then. but being oct 1989 when they did the series changes, mine must have been one of the last series 1

I think Oct '89 was the change-over point. The B pillar is the only major external giveaway - the 4 speed was the only serious change.

I think another giveaway might have been the third brakelight in the rear windscreen. The series 1 doesn't have one but the series 2 does.

oohh, i found the differences on the geocities falcon facts site.
Series II: Body-coloured B-pillars. 30th Anniversary models: Falcon bird badge near front wheels, GL has “swirl” wheel covers and bigger side mouldings. Fairmont has alloy wheels.

The 3rd brakelight was also in late series 1. It was changed part way through. 87 and some 88 built cars wont have the 3rd brake light.

Mine is a February '89 and the only 3rd brake light is aftermarket.
As for the 30th ann, central locking on all models was its big feature, as well as the other security updates mentioned. |
