Hay Guys with an AU how easly will 19" fit on? Like will I be rubbing my guards or need to make any mods at all?
Im looking to get some furys I seen some for sale new shadow chrome 19" all four for $1200 without tyres.... good deal? The tyres seem to be the mega killer though cheapest iv seen for four tyres is $1000 :( Im starting to wonder if 18" is a bit more economical but id prefer to go 19"

hi Duffman,
i have a au xr8 with 19x8's on it. stock ride hight and have no worries with guards hitting . if you go lower maybe you will need to roll the guards. |

We can get tyres in Canberra for $220 each for 19" from Injek't. Vince will send them to you, and you pay to get them fitted. Ask Hoops for details. he did the same thing.
I have 19's, but havenb't had my guards rolled. The car is stock tickford height. I beleive that with 19's on an AU, theres no need for guard rolling. Again, ask hoops. Until recently, they had 19's on the AU2 XR8 |

Dam looks like I have no choice but to get 19" then. Do you think $1200 is a good price for four of them?

depends on the wheels. is that with or without rubber ? dont forget to make sure you leave yourself enough coin to lower it, or it will look worse then standard...
i got mine for 1200 + 200 for powdercoating + 880 for rubber + lowering..... |

Yeah thats without rubber so do you think its an o-k price? It will have the ts50 kit so it will look a bit lower then normal but yeah lowering will be next up on the cards with some tint.

i test fitted my 19's (without rubber) on my forte, they are 8.5 front, 9.5 rear and the rims cleared everything.

I had my rolled guards after lowering as my 17s were chewing up the lip.

I have 19 x 8"s with 265/30/19's on a TS50 with the Ultralow springs, no rubbing at all and no bottoming out, and still have never scratched the kit anywhere.
Don't need to roll your guards either. |

When buying your rims , check the depth of the inner and outer dish of the rim , the dish on most rims range andwhere form near centre to right near the fron face of the rim.
eg .. [ ] = tyres , | = rim centre , ---o--- = axle 1/...shallow dish ... [ |--]---o---[--| ] 2/...deep dish .. [ |-]----o----[-| ] As u can see , same width tyre and rims ands even same size axle / but changing the centre position in the rim has changed the dish depth on either side, which could cause rub on the outer/inner side of the tyres. Check ya clearances be4 u buy ;) Pretty basic stuff yeah , but just for anyone who didnt realise checking this be4 u buy rims. Most rims when u buy them and they say are suited for AU or BA etc etc etc allways seem to vary a bit where the centre of the rim lies creating different depth dishes , there is standard sizes dish depths to fit propperlly so u wont get any rub (suited to that model car as i said be4) / but it seems to be the cheaper u go in rims the quality drops a bit. I have actually seen over the years 2 sets of rims where 1 rims has even been slightlly a different depth dish ( different centre alignent to the other 3 rims ) !!!!!!!! , cheap rims ! . If u ever get 1 tyre rubbing a bit and not the rest, and you know for a fact your tyres are exactelly the same widths , then a bad dish depth is somethingn to check for ! . |

I had 19 inch furies with 245/255 tyres on my AU XR6. It had the TS50 kit and superlows. It was fine but rubbed on the rear with full car and harsh bumps.

You can fit 20's but the fronts are the problem.
I had my friends fit a set of 20 x 8 1/2's on front and 20 x 10 on the rear with 235 30 and 275 30's and they only just cleared. Looked awesome but very pricey and not alot of choice in the tyres, ended up being Nito 555's. |

go FPV 19". look tough.
If it rubs just get the guards rolled. depends how low u go aswell just take it easy turning into driveways etc at certain speeds. let us know how u go mate. once upon a time i had 18*8" wheels exhaust was 6cm off the floor no rubbing anywhere just like i said had to take it easy on speed humps and turning into driveways thats when it would rub happened maybe 2-3 times in about 2 years. good luck. |

No big probs, see the pic below of my old AU XR8. Dumped on its guts and running a set of polished 19inch Fury's. I ran it on Canberra roads for about six months without a scrub, but then hit some dodgy roads in Melbourne and bent the front guard. Nothing too serious, just be sure to remove those stupid plastic bits around the front of your front wheels arches.

20x225 on the front and 20x235 on the back. Handles beautiful and feels great.

I have test fitted 20" X 10" wheels on my wagon. It was unbelieveable odd looking, stuck out miles from the guards. Didn't drive on them though.
