G'day...early last year some time I posted a request for hood scoops for a std BA XR6 as I felt the heat problem was an issue. Several weeks passesd and I had no response but may have been looking in the wrong area. Since then, I've forgotten my password and logged in again under the same pseudonym but still can't find anything. Does anyone have any suggestions for a breather scoop like Subie WRX or Pug? Would love to find out. Also posted a request today about how to fit my BA wheels onto my wife's EL so I can update my wheels. MUST be legal in Qld. Any help much appreciated. Thanks...Rick...Catmandu

Hey mate the scoop on the rex is for the intercooler as it has a bonnet mount intercooler don't know about the pug. The falcon six has a front mount intercooler so no need for a boonet scoop. I have seen a scoop on one of the tecs cars at denmac ford darra but it was a XR8 and the scoop fitted neatly in the bonnet bump. You could probably do the same on your six if you want would look ok and would help cool it down.

Or you could wait for the new Territory Turbo Bonnet scoop to be aftermarket copied and then buy one of those... AWC... only a matter of time!!!

The BA rims won't fit on the EL due to the different offset without spacers, BUT they are illegal. I am hanging out for bonnet vents for the six though as they will help release some of the excess heat built up in the engine bay by the turbo.

I was thinking the same thing - looking at a bonnet vent, not a scoop. Trying to het the hot air out of the engine bay more than putting cold air in.
Thought these were OK. Panda

Thanks Guys for all your helpful hints and ideas. Haven't seen the scoop/vent on the Territory turbo but it sounds like the go. Doesn't seem like I'll be able to do anything on the EL with the BA XR6 rims though does it? Shame, would have looked good as the car is mercury in colour.
Anyone going to South Bank on the Sat of the Brisbane Motor Show to see the V8's and drivers? cheers... |
