Angry inlet manifold sucks!!!

decieded to take the inlet manifold off the v8 this arvo to fix the air leeks, i was thinking that it wold take me bout an hour or two. WRONG. 3 hours just to get it off.
Starting to dislike having the 5.0

2nd time around its a lot quicker.
we did it 2 days ago, first time took a while, 2nd time took just over an hour to get it off. (upper and lower)

There are some packaging compromises with the Windsor because the engine is essentially out of a totally unrelated car. But there are plenty of imported cars that are a nightmare to work on which have no such excuse.

The first time I did it took friggen ages.
The second time around is much quicker.

Oh yeah and RE. the manifold, once you do it once you'll find it easier the next time. I can have my upper off in 15 mins now.

Wait til you try an Edelbrock manifold.
theres one tricky nut inside the plenums "throat" and another pain in the proverbial rear left side.... Not pretty .

i got it all back together and the manifold is spewing out water from the back of the left side. Trying again tomorrow.

from the lower? did you put new gaskets on? clean the surfaces? Dont want water spewing into the motor and / or cylinder :(

yeah its from the lower half, i put new gaskets in and have no idea what has gone wrong. Must have got some crap caught on the new gasket as i was putting the manifold in. i will post again tomorrow with the result.

well its fixed now. The left hand sid gasket didnt sit right the first time so i pulled it down again ( a lot quicker this time) and did it again. All up it took me just 3 hours this time. Took it for a run and its all good.
