Default correct oil for 1999 au with high miles

Hi all,

I have a 6 cylinder AU with 160,000kms on it. It would appear that I should be putting 5W30 oil in it - but that seems so thin. Is this what cabbies etc are using in their high mileage engines or should I be giving it slightly thicker oil?

Thanks,
Chronic

I run 15W40 ... I think ... LOL
god i have a shocking memory
I have done 155,000km .. and it's barely run in.
Mind you I have put on 45,000km in the last 9 months ... so it will be increasing quite a bit.

I'd class high kays if it's done more than half a million kays.

Thanks Injected_250 and Mechan1k - that is great. I will put in a synthetic 10w30 at the next change.
