Default Opinions on Lukey System

Hi guys,

Thinking about putting a cat back sports system on the AU.

Got a good mate with a carline exhaust shop, so naturally he does lukey exhaust only.

Anyone got a lukey system on their AU 4.0L, or any experiences?

Cheers

Adrian.

If it's 2.5 or 3", it will make a difference to sound and performance. Go for it - most off the shelf systems are pretty much the same, only the sound is different.

Ok cool, i'm not after a loud exhaust, just someting to give the 4.0L a bit of depth. Nice idle note, and maintain low level noise on the freeway.

I've got Lukey 2.5" from the cats into 3" right through on my 5.0L. Sounds great, also noticed improved throttle response. I'll be looking at some nice new Lukey headers and hi-flow cats shortly, also.

I have a Lukey system - Lukey headers into 2.5" Lukey exhaust. Only thing is it's not on a 4.0L, it's on the escort, but it certainly does growl (like the adverts say!)

Adrian ... I got mine done at Mt Druitt Carline ... Bruno there is excellent when it comes to advice. Mines not too loud (but can reverberate a little under load though) ... but i am only running one muffler (not that small though.

i am running a 2.5" cat back system.

If you want it not too loud that can add a resonator into the system if needed ... and it will give a nice deep tone ... but not over the top.

For you ... I doubt you would want anything too loud ... so most likely a Lukey muffler and also add a resonator to the system so it has a slightly softer hum ... but at least 2.5: from cat back.

3" sounds good ... but probably not for you though .... listen to Stiddy's car for what a 3" sounds like (ie: animal).

Also I have a nice throb at idle as well ... nothing too lumpy.

Bruno did the exhaust in my previous Falcon ute ... fixed a problem with the exhaust on my Proton ... and did the exhaust on my fiancee's old Mirage as well.

I keep going back there ... because they have looked after me ... will be getting my extractors fitted there as well (when i move the converter out of the way so the damn things fit.)

lukeys offer a great rumble on both the 4 and 5 liter engines, they are great value for money and good quality, I use lukey mufflers on most of my cars

Put it this way ,I have a 3 inch cat on the 2.5 inch pipe about 1 metre long and a 2.5 inch lukey muffler with about another metre of piping. It will need some more piping to the end of the car and to join to the front extractors. Give me 220 bucks stick it on and find out for yourself. That was you at titan ford? The cat is 6 months old ,the muffler is about a year old but in excellent condition.Trust me that the cat on its own is worth 180 bucks..You will only need a rear resonator.Ive stillgot my rear 2.5 inch resonator on the car it is a godsend. It keeps the noise levels down to a legal level. The exhaust used to sound real nice when it was on my car.It had a distinct growlbut not over the top.You will like it!! Gotta help my NSW falcon tickford fpv club mates.

I live in Canberra, and was going to make the trip to Jim Mock and have their stage 2 system fitted to my car.

Would i notice any benefits from the stage 2 system, over an off the shelf system installed at an exhaust place in Canberra.

The Stage 2 system offers 20+ rwkw gain from factory standard Au2 I6.

Got it fitted, quite happy with it, taking a while to get used to. It's got an awsome rumble at idle. Very throaty, hopefully doesn't get too noisy when it carbons up.

Got a nice pair of chrome tips too.

ok just got back. nothing was done.

turns out my exhaust from the cat-back is pretty much had it. he quoted me $485 for a sports system (lukey obviously) with my Herrod twin tips at the back...

is this reasonable?

he also quoted me $430 for a replacement stock system with the twins. calling Brad Garlick now as well for a price on a stock system
