Default Central Locking Problem

I am having problems with my centeral locking. A while ago I locked the door and heard a clunking sound in the drivers door. Since then, the central locking will work with the key, but not the key pad. When I use the key pad the car just makes the beeping noise it usually makes if a door is open or such and the lock do not work.

My two questions are:

1) Has anyone experianced this. If I was a betting man I would say it is either the motor has broken something or something is bent inside the door.

2) I tried removing the door trims and found some resistance. I have removed the screws around the door trim, are there any other bolts that need removing?.

Thanks

firstly it depends what model car it is as the au2 and 3's have different door trims to a au1 forte, it could be in the door handle somewhere, if it hasnt got power windows then it could be the window winder, etc...

I have the same problem. What you are looking at is the door actuator. Was speakin to my local ford team and this is what they said it was. If you have remote the remote wont lock the doors. And the key was only locking my drivers door not the passenger door. Dont know if you've had it but the door alert was saying the door was open. When in actual fact they were both shut leaving the interior light on. When turning right hand corners the light would flash. Ford has qouted me $170ish for the part. and fitted i was looking at $290. Will be getting done asap.
But that is what it will be the door actuator is shagged.

Yeah, my car does the same thing. Can only lock and unlock with the key, and only the drivers door unless i get inside the car, leave my door open, and push the lock button in the car to unlock other doors

Depending on where you live, contact our sponsor FTG auto salvage. They can supply actuators for a good price (used), and it is quite simple to replace.
