Default Need Suspension Advice

Alrighy folks, ive gotten sick of the 4wd ride height of my AU and have decided to forgo getting mags and sort the suspension out first. The AU handles pretty well (watts link), but it does feel a bit disconcerting in the wet, especially from the front.

Anyhow ive been looking at a few options with the suspension work. Im looking at something to produce better handling firstly and improve looks. Firstly Pedders gave me a quote for $1050 (installed) for Pedders Sportsryder gear with Lowered Springs (Slightly lower than Tickford) and their 'midrange' VRG struts/shockers.

Second option was a muffler shop (who is the dealer for lovells) with Lovells Lows and KYB shocks for $870 installed

Third Option was buying the gear at Bursons and getting it installed by a local suspension shop. Bursons wanted around $150 a pair for springs, $70 for shocks and i think around $170 for struts; in KYB again.

Pretty much im asking are these decent enough options ? or am I getting ripped off and if i go lows, will i need a camber/castor kit ? (still running 215/60/16 Steelies) and finally should i just go stuff it and get the Full Tickford Suspension Kit from Ford (no idea on price)?

i wouldnt get the tickford suspension
im sure the rear end of the tickford suspension is IRS anyway. and its probably rediculously expensive!!

have you tried pricing the whiteline full house kit or what ever its called? can be ordered thru autobarn or from whiteline them selves
or the fulcrum equivilant?

supercheap auto charged me $80 a side for the fulcrum camber castor kit for my fairlane it was the same price for the superlow model and the stock -> low model
and got it ordered in

the springs you can get kingsprings thru supercheap also at about $130 but suposedly the pedders and other ranges have a better/fimer spring rate

i would goto pedders personally as they know how to do an alignment... and will tell you whats busted..
the muffler shop would fit and forget..
and i have no idea who your local suspension shop would be so cant comment there anyway..

good luck mate!!

Tickford did a live axle suspension setup for the XR6HP.

Well i am/was aiming for something similiar to the Tickford setups in the XR6HP. A bit stiffer and with a 25-30mm drop.

They sure did, as I have his XR springs on my SR! Sort of now makes it SXR! LOL!

Now back to your question, If you have the money to fork out, I would do the Pedder's option. They will handle everything, and are a reputable company should anything not be to your satisfaction. Aussie owned too, which in this economic climate helps I think.

I have their shocks on my car and are happy with them.

All the best with it.
