Nice. I'll say ride height as well (I'm such a hypocrite), and also clear indicators. Anyway, welcome back to E-series. Try not to trade this one in!

Why sell the VX(besides the obvious being a holden reason)? lol its an alright car, im trying to offload the XE and keep the VX as the project/weekend car

I think that these 2 cars will stay for a while now i'm finally happy with what i have, always wanted a wagon again since i sold the ED, and i always wanted a manual, since the VX is hell to drive in traffic, i decided to get an e-series wagon again

Also just a general question, This EB has a kind of vacumm cleaner sounding engine and seems to lag power as compared to my old ED would this be because the ED was an OPT20? because i know the engine sounded like an ef-au engine when accelerating, it was also almost as fast as the AU, this one seems to lag? any sugestions on what could be causing this? im gonna try cleaning out the air filter and that but does any one have any other ideas?

thanks for the comments BTW

In standard form, EB1s had less power than the ED. An EB1 MPi had 139kW and 338Nm of torque while an ED had 148kW and 348Nm of torque. The vacuum cleaner sounding engine would be because of the clutch fan. They tend to be quite noisy, for some reason they seem louder on EA and EB1s. I don't know why.

i never knew it was any different to ED's, i thought EA's had 3.9 engines, the EB has a 4.0 badge on it so i thought it would be the same engine as my ED had, would there be any way to make it the same as the ED was? maybe if i put thermos fans in that would stop the vacuum, but then theres still the lag of power

You say it's an EB1 in your signature, while it has 4.0i badges? Interesting. The 4.0i came out with the EBII. Check the rocker cover. If it's an EBII, it should say 4.0i on the rocker cover. Also EBII has 6" front speakers (instead of 4") and has various other differences

It is a series 1, its a 1991, no ABS(heard it came standard on EBII spacs), 4" speakers, darker dash etc
The only reason i wanted a Series 1 because it had no smartlock, so i can add an alarm to it without it fighting with smartlock like it did in the AU(i dont like the upgrade alarms, so i tried to hook a full alarm to the central locking in the au and it didnt wonna work for me)

I will check wether the engine is an 88DA or a 91AA, i was suprised to see a 4.0 badge aswell got me thinking for a bit, but i saw a few more EB's running around with them so i thought it must have one.

ill go check now and see what engine it has

EDIT: it is a 3.9 :(, So i guess an ED top end should fix this? (was gonna fix the engine anyway had a bunch of leaks from all the gaskets and the dealer just put black sealent over it)
So i might just aswell chuck an ED head in with an EF cam, was the rocker gear any different between EBI and EBII?

i thought the EB1 upgrade from the 3.9 to the 4.0 happened shortly before the EB2 came out ?

rocker has OCH on it where the 4.0 should be, so im guessing it really is only a 3.9

N1KO: whats this about a correct rocker gasket?

That's weird. They normally have OHC.

shouldn't

3.9's have OCH
and
4.0's have 4.0 and OCH under it?

this is going by pictures of my old EA and ED

I think what happened here is the old owner must have just stuck a 4.0 badge on for some unknown reason- maybe to make it look like a series 2

OCH? Does that mean your car has an Overcam Head? What Kenaz would mean is that the rocker covers don't say OCH at all. It is OHC for Overhead Cam. I know mine certainly says OHC, while my parent's EBII says 4.0 with OHC below it.

i agree - if you want to look at a reasonable sleeper that looks like a pile of crap - just look at my EB lol. I was going to get clear indicators but ford quoed over 100 each.. screw that.

Love the 15" EB S wheels still to do this day. car looks good.

Yes change to the ED top end, it'll make the 3.9 go like a 4.0.

Smartlock didn't come out til October 92. It wasn't part of the series 2 upgrade.

You can get clear aftermarket indicators for about $30 for a pair. I got mine off ebay and they've been good, no leaks or anything.
