I was thinking of doing this in SA as I dont wish spend lots of cash. Do you guys reckon this will be ok for a bit of a thrash?

I know that you're in SA but I did this last year, if you can, try it one day, it's awesome
http://www.thewrxexperience.com.au/main.htm They taught you how to do the Scandi flick in their 05 STi and on my final lap I was getting through some 90deg. bends and hairpins at a pace I thought was silly originally. Was totally buggered by the end though, fitness level not great either. : Rallying a big V8 RWD ute just wouldn't be the same, it would just feel like circle work!! Matty

I do like the thought of a racing a wrx, but I also like the challenge of a rwd ute too. Plus its a v8 so the fun and noise will excite me also.
