Mid size cars are Mazda 6, Accord Euro etc.

my boss has the accord euro and i've got waaay more room in both the inside and the boot (without the subs OMG)

The FCAI determines which cars go into which categories.

A Honda Civic has more interior room than an Accord Euro these days.Go figure

I think its more based on wheelbase/external dimensions.
