Red face EB wagon locking query

G'day all, I don't know much about this topic so you may have to help me out. Got this enquiry today:

"My name is Ashley, and i recently bought a series II EB wagon. when i got it, it didn't have a keyless entry remote so i bought one from the local ford dealer. Everything works fine Except it won't lock the tailgate, it will unlock it but it won't lock it. is this normal. I know that with a sedan you dont need to lock the boot with a button because when you close it; it automatically locks. Did they use the same set up as a sedan in the wagon and that's why it doesn't work. but because the button on the dash locks and unlocks it I thought the remote would run through the same system and it should work."

you'll find the central locking motor is out of alignment..

there is a joining block which joins the bar off the lock and the bar off the central locking motor.. it is most probably slipping.. in worst cases one of the screws on this little thing have spun..

;)

nope, from memory......smartlock remote wont lock the tailgate, and if memory of my folks EL serves me correctly, wagons have the 1 button smartlock remote....(unlocking the cars doors will unlock the tailgate, locking car doors locks tailgate)

Nope, the Wagons Do have the dual button one. And as far as I know, it should lock it too. As to what the problem is, I couldn't tell you.

no, wagons only open the boot from the remote,
to lock the boot you need to either use the key or flick the rocker switch on the dash to the left

i asked about this once i got my wagon cause i thought my central locking had a problem but found that every one else with a wagon had the same problem

IMO it's very inconvenient, i've forgotten to lock the boot on many occasions cause of this:P

just found the old remote that i had from the EL. only 1 button.
i can only assume that ford fixed the locking complaint for EF/L, by making the central locking operate the tailgate lock...

tommi is right, you can only unlock the tailgate with the button, just like you can only pop the bootlid on a sedan (well, a sedan is locked again when u close it, but u get the picture)

being an ebII wagon owner myself... the wagons do have 2 button remotes. but it will only unlock the tailgate, wont lock it.. you have to lock it with the key or the button inside the car.. kind of annoying!

i'm pretty certain someone made a fix (some electronic wiring thing) so it does lock the tailgate.. i remember asking him about it but never got back to me (was on old fordforums)

edit: pretty sure for ef/el they changed to one button remotes which i think locks and unlocks both the doors and tailgate

well my ed has a two button remote aswell, same did my dad's au wagon, which is where i think they fixed the problem, the boot button pops the tailgate, but once you shut the gate it is locked again by it's self

i dont think many changes woulda happened to the wagon area between ebII-EL i think the changes were first made on the au

Hey Guys,

I've got a EB Series I, 3.9L CFI Falcon Sedan. I havent got a remote with it. I would like to know whether it supports Remote Locking/Unlocking? Is the Remote the one-button model or the two-button model?

EB Series one was prior to smartlock, so i'd assume that it doesn't... I will let someone else confirm that however...

I've got aftermarket central locking combined with a different aftermarket alarm in my ea and they work together, so I dont see why u coyuldnt get a cheapish aftermarket alarm with a remote that you could wire into the central locking of your eb (i assume it has central locking?)
