The clutch pedal is too high in my LS Zetec. Makes for sloppy gear changes.
Anyone know if height can be adjusted....? I'm too lazy to get down in the hole to look. Failing that anyone know of a good lumberjack to take 4" off my legs? |

Try removing the pedal return spring. Mine snapped and although it made the clutch softer, you get a better pedal feel and it sits about an inch lower. Ford said that it wouldn't cause any extra wear
Zetec20 can testify to this |

My clutch spring broke as well. Its actually unsafe to drive you car without one, as the clutch is semi-hydraulic, and could potentially jam without it. You should take your car to Ford and get them to re-install the spring. Make sure they depressurise everything, otherwise you'll get a squeeky clutch like mine was. But what can you expect from a ford. These SA builds are shocking in quality.

I know this is an old thread but...
Can the position where the clutch engages be changed? My is working at the top of range however I believe the clutch to be in good condition - only 10,000Kms. |

I'd be interested to know if anybody knows the answer to this question though. Would love to know if I could lower the friction point to within an inch of the floor, rather than being 2 feet from the floor as it is at the moment!

I spoke to Ford about this too. Their position is they would be reluctant to alter anything whilst under warranty. out of warranty however they would be happy to adjust the throw length but they wouldnt say how...
One would have to crack open the clutch housing and mess with leverage or pivot points. I've never seen how the Focus setup goes but have made this adjustment on race cars it can be done. Perhaps there's an alternate slave cylinder being a hydraulic clutch... ?? |

That would be a good way to go. I don't know about anyone else but I find I only use the first 1/4 of clutch pedal movement to get 100% freewheeling
