Default Fog Lamp Brackets

Hi,

Have an AU II Forte... have since added a TS50/TE50 style full body kit to the vehicle, including all badging.

Have fog lamps for the vehicle and was wondering if anyone has a fog lamp bracket detail or drawing for the car.

With the body kit on, the holes for the fog lamps are some distance away from the mounting supports on the car, hence brackets are needed to mount the lamps.

I thought i would post on here and maybe someone has made brackets before for this situation. I dont have any photos as yet but when I get the chance, will have some taken.

Best bet is to have a look at the AWC site - they have instructions on how to fit driving lights and what brackets to use.

Also, do a search for 'brackets' - I'm sure I posted a pic complete with measurements for what AWC recommend. Saved you the time and found it:

Hmmm, had a look at where the lights need to be mounted.

Dont think these brackets will do the job. Will make a cardboard template first and have a look.

I am fitting them to a standard AU Forte front end with an aftermarket TS50 body kit made in Brisbane by a mob called spoilertek.

I use lightskinz on mine - they seem to offer good protection.

You can get them from Supercheap, autobarn, repco. Most auto stores should carry them. You want the ones that are rectangle sheets - ie for any car, not the ones for a particular car (which are cut to fit).

What are these JC? Flexible plastic or perspex, or...?

Do you cut them to size?

Would they be suitable for the Brumby driving lights?

So many questions... so little time...

Yep, it's a flexible sticky (silicon???) film about 3 to 4 mm thick. Basically you cut them to shape, turn the lights on for a few minutes so that they're nice and warm, peel off the backing and stick on the lightskinz.

A pack to do just driving lights would be around $25 to $30.

To do an XRs (glass) lights is around $40.

Normal falcon lights can also be done, but as the lenses are polycarbonate, they're pretty well resistant to breaking from stones etc, but the lightskinz would protect them from scratches.

Here's an ebay link - more for the info than the actual price - I'm pretty sure the stuff is cheaper than that, and it does come in different sizes (eg for 2 x 100mm driving lights, one sheet 100mm x 200mm would be enough, but the lightskinz may only come in a sheet 200x300, which I think is the cheapest pack).

No worries. I've been using this stuff since we had our EF (in around 96/97). It's great - I've heard stories from people (you know, the ones who have mates whose uncle's second cousin's friend) about it coming off, but as long as you follow the instructions, it should last for years. I've certainly never had an issue with it, and have it fitted to both XR front ends on our cars.

Autobarn or Supercheap would be the cheapest option - forget ebay in this case!
