Default Mercules....It really does drive!

About 2 months ago, as I was entering the suburb in which I live, I saw this chrome mountain coming towards me,
I then realise it was Mercules, without a bonnet on. Couldn't believe it.
Gave him the thumbs up as it went past.
I can tell you, I have never seen anything like it, and have never ever heard anything like this blown V10 before.

Here's a couple of pics I dug up, which were taken on the same day, when he went for a cruise down to Perth's Scarborough Beach.

Enjoy!

Mad! That would be awesome to see on the road in real life. How legal is it without the bonnet though?

wow what a beast, about time a serious show car was driven on the street, must make a nice sound too.just wondering if Perth cops are a bit more open minded these days,
my mate took his xb panelvan over there in 1981 and was pulled over on way to Mandurah and they pulled all his interior out of his show van cupboards velour padding ,roof lining the whole lot looking for drugs because he had long hair, smashed the lot to get it all out,two years and lots of money ruined in half an hour.vowed he would never go back there again.
so my hat goes off to anyone game enough to risk that sort of attitude to drive there car.

I've seen Mercules a few times on show and just thought oh yeah, just another mega dollar show car - big deal, show me some real cars. But it's so much more impressive looking at it on the street - that's what cars are for right - driving on the street. There should be more of it.

Show judges should award points for signs of use

I think the general public would have a lot more respect for the modified car hobby/culture if they saw more of these driving around and less glorification of the bloody burnout, which IMHO has done nothing but harm the image of those that like to tinker with their cars.

100% agree with ya there!

The more these cars are out behaving then the easier it will be for everyone. Wont happen over night, but it will happen.

On the flip side though, these things would get defected in two seconds..LOL...kind of puts a dampener on things.

Because I believe it is licensed in another state, not WA, then the cops would have probably left him alone if he got pulled over......although the bonnet excuse would have been a good one.

Nice to see it driven on the street but lets face it alot of people don't cause they would get a canary even though its safer than alot of other cars that deserve it more.

What a beauty. It's definitely one of my favourite show-cars.... And to know it's a blown V10 and driven just earns so much more respect! I would do anything to hear the beast cruising.

Much respect.

Unfortunately that's not right, I got defected outside Rockingham shopping centre a few years ago in a car that had Vic plates on it. I left the state 2 weeks later and peeled the sticker off the windscreen as I crossed the border into S.A. (was actually told to do this by the RTA officer that gave me the extension on the original 7 day canary)

I have never been too interested in show cars, and never really cared much about Mercules, but now that I know it is driven on the road makes me look at it in a completely different light.
